Last week, during a wonderful talk I had, a sentence slipped out of my mouth that I then wrote down and is following me since then and is getting me more and more excited. The sentence was: ‘Maybe learning is creating, creating something new in yourself’. Now you could say: well....yes...uh...but what’s so exciting about that?
For me it could open an other way of perceiving learning, a much more positive perception. If you see learning as creating something new in and for yourself, new possibilities, new options it becomes an other process. It’s anyway about you, owned by you, motivated by you. Learning becomes then a creative process.
More about ‘expressing yourself’ than ‘taking in something’.
About finding your own forms, shapes, sounds, colours.
About creating, shaping yourself.
But also creating something for others, with others....or in your environment.
I have this feeling that saying to yourself ‘I create the possibility within myself to speak Chinese’ is a more exciting attitude than saying’ I’m going to study Chinese’.
Well.... reading now this last sentence I’m not sure if this is absolutely nonsense.... but still.
My plan anyway is to stay excited about this and to jump first into what people have been saying and writing about the ‘creative process’ and then to see how that can apply on learning. And then.....to create something......
I will keep you updated here. And... when you get excited too... or maybe think that this is total bullshit ..... please let me know..... Maybe we can create something together.
Hey Paul!

I think it's very exciting to change perspectives on all kind of things in life, including for example ambiguity. i hope I'll have a bit of time to work on that subject in the next months... :-)
Talk to you soon,
