I’ve been thinking a lot about this ‘learning is creating thing’ in the last week and to be honest it’s quite confusing. Been searching the net to see how creative processes are described and to see how that can help to link it to learning. The problem is that people when they describe creative processes immediately go to 5 or 7 or 9 steps that should be followed and that’s exactly what I wanted to avoid.
My main idea it to see learning as creating something new. So maybe it’s not that ‘learning is creating’ but more ‘ learning should be creating’. I assume that looking at learning that way creates exciting new perspectives. (Although in my confused brains I’m sometimes afraid it’s just about ‘words’)
Is creating something new, being creative, not always implying learning? And if the answer to that is ‘yes’ wouldn't it be great to make education into one big creative event? Kids in school would not listen, trying to follow, consume but they would create, built, make new things, toys, houses, stories, tools, music, books, dances, plays..... Whatever they want to create. And they would learn. Just by doing, trying out, exploring... in order to create. Without maybe even being aware that they are learning... learning is then just a part of life.. which comes natural...
Don’t know...still confusing....need HELP!!
